Cotton Terry cloth nappies

Flat Terry Nappies These are the traditional nappy in the UK and we have medium weight white UK made terries and Turkish terry heavier weight unbleached organic terries.

The 50cm white terries are about the same absorbency as the 40cm organic terries, and 60cm white about the same absorbency as the 50 cm organic terries. Some people will prefer the medium weight as they can get a better fit round a baby's bottom, for the same absorbency as a smaller but thicker terry.

You will soon become adept at folding them and remember that you don’t need to use pins if you don’t want to. They can be folded into a pad like a prefold, pinned or held closed with nappy nippas (see below). Pins are easily available in chemists. There are small terries for teeny babies, and these become very useful as boosters in any nappy later. Very cute as a kite fold! The 40 cm terries are best used in a pad fold, except on a very small baby, as they aren't big enough to fit around most babies over a few weeks old.
