When it comes to change time, you don't have to use disposable wipes. Despite their name, most are no more disposable than disposable nappies. They are made of synthetics, are not flushable (look for a tiny symbol indicating this on the packet), and some babies are quite sensitive to the perfumes and chemicals in them. Therefore we have a range of washable wipes, flushable liners and a flushable wipe/liner. We do have one flushable, disposable wipe, but recommend these only for holiday times etc. You can dampen the cotton wipes with anything from plain water to your own wipes recipe. Our favourite recipe was passed on by Lynn in Durham. A cup of chamomile tea, cooled, a few drops of lavender oil, (anti bacterial) and a little olive oil or grape seed (massage) oil. This will keep for a few days in a used plastic disposable wet wipes lidded box, just soak the wipe before use, or place several in at a time so they are ready for use when you need them. When changing your baby, first remove most of the solids with with ordinary toilet tissue, then clean baby's bottom with the wet wipes.

Please note that the bedpads below will perform better if washed a few times before use, to remove natural waxes present in cotton and to alllow them to become fully absorbent. You don't need to do these pre-washes on their own, all of the items below can be washed in with a normal wash load so long as no fabric conditioner is used. It's best to avoid the use of fabric conditoners as this will reduce absorbency over time. You can wash at 30 or 40 degrees and some items can be washed at 60 degrees, please read the instructions that come with your purchase for full details.
