Organic Nappies
Organic reusable Nappies are made from cottonthat has been grown and processed without the use of pesticides, herbicides and unnecessarychemicals. Some do contain synthetics, usually in the form of velcro, but wehave several that do not have any synthetics at all, so you can be sure that thewhole cloth nappy will easily decompose when it has finished it's useful life. Popolini Two size- (REDUCED TO CLEAR, while stocks last) are a two size nappy made from stretch 100% cotton terry that fasten on the sides with poppers. They do not have a separate liner or inner flap, so do take longer to dry, but are very easy to put on baby (use them like a pull on for wriggly babies) and are difficult for a toddler to remove. They are very soft and comfortable and come in just 2 sizes for birth to potty, and in extra large for night wetters up to about 5 years old. There are several poppers on the side to allow you to adjust the nappy for a snug fit round baby's legs. These are good for wriggly babies who like to undo their nappies, and really good for 1 year olds who want to stand up to be changed. There are boosters available for these nappies, although you will be unlikely to need them by day. Stretch terry stays fairly soft when radiator dried. White or unbleached or unbleached organic. We will be keep stock of the unbleached (natural) version, the other fabrics will be special order, so for white and organic, please allow 2-3 weeks for your nappies to arrive. Ella's House hemp nappy.
Hemp needs a little introduction. It is considered a greener fibre than cotton, as it needs little or no chemical sprays to grow successfully, and is very durable. It is also extremely absorbent for it's weight, so makes a slim, but very absorbent nappy. Ideal for 1st babies, especially in the popper version, and also for those who like a slimmer nappy. They are more expensive than most other nappies, but compare well with organic cotton, and will easily last 2 or 3 babies, whereas cotton may only last 1-2 babies. Hemp does need more washes to bring it to full absorbency (8 or more washes), but it will compare well with cotton from about 3-4 washes, and improve from there. Ella's house nappies are made from a very soft fleecy hemp fabric,with either poppers or Aplix fastenings. We keep popper Ella's house nappies in stock, but Aplix (Vlecor style fastenings) nappies can be special ordered. Please allow a minimum of 28 days for the aplix version to be delivered. If you are wondering why we only keep the popper version, it's simple. Poppers don't wear out, and if you are investing the extra money in hemp, which will last a long time, we feel the fastenings should also last a long time. Aplix is durable enough to last one baby, but often starts to lose it's grip if you are passing the nappies onto a second/third baby. The poppers are also well placed, so give a good fit without any stiffness across the front.
The nappy has 4 layers of hemp, for a slim but absorbent fit, 2 layers in the main nappy and 2 layers in the booster layer. This new and improved designallows faster drying with no loss of asorbency. The nappy is also easily boosted, and if the bumhugger isn't quite enough for your heavy wetter, then you should buy the hemp nappy and boost it.

This nappy is extremely absorbent, but it is still quite a thick nappy. However, it's main advantage is the high absorbency in a single piece nappy (cover still needed), and the fleece lined inner. The new improved design with 2 layers of fabric in the main nappy and 2 layers in the booster. The tucks away inside the fleece pocket, but pulls out for faster drying.
The Bumhugger also has a layer of fleece across the whole of the inside, leaving baby's skin very dry. Either nappy makes an excellent night nappy, but the Bumhugger is especially popular for night. If the Bumhugger isn't enough for your baby, then it is not the best nappy for boosting, the normal hemp nappy will be better, as you can then boost it as necessary.
